Protip #2 Declassified: Buyback

So I made a pretty critical error.  I purchased some of the QL 6 PvP gear from the vendor, and got so excited that I right clicked.

Problem was, I was still talking to the vendor, so right click sold my gear.

I personally had a problem finding a way to buy back, so dejected, I put in a petition and logged off for the night.  The wait time to get my item was pretty intense, but when I eventually talked to the GM the next evening, he told me where the buyback button was.

And I was surprised and excited to find that my stuff could still be bought back!

In order to buy back gear, you need to go to the "Sell" tab on any vendor (yes, I bought back my gear from a different vendor).  At the bottom of the window, there's a button labeled "Buyback."  It won't show you what you're buying back, but it can go back at least 24 hours, maybe more.

So if you make a rookie mistake like I did, know that you can recover, even if it's been a while.

As an aside, I did find the GM very helpful, once I got through the wait time.

Protip #1 Declassified: Anima Speed Boost

Unlike most MMOs, TSW gives it's players the ability to sprint 50% faster out-of-combat from the beginning.  That's because TSW is more heavily focused on travel and investigation, rather than quest nodes where you collect 8 quests at once that all occur in the same place.

So, needless to say, you'll be spending a ton of time sprinting.  But since you're given the sprint skill for free, players may not know about the Anima Speed Boosts available for purchase!

There are three levels of speed boost that can be purchased:
Level 1: 62.5%, 100k PAX
Level 2: 75%, 500k PAX
Level 3: 100%, 1M PAX

As with most MMOs, the buffs are not cumulative and you have to purchase the first level of Anima Speed Boost before you can purchase the second one and so on.  The vendor for this boost can be found at your Faction's HQ.  For the Templars, the vendor is by the PvP and demolitions vendors, and I assume it's probably the same thing for the other factions.

Since you'll be spending so much time running, I highly suggest traveling back to your HQ as soon as you have enough PAX to purchase the first upgrade.

Welcome to Orochi Unclassified!

Orochi Unclassified is a blog dedicated to providing information on Funcom's MMORPG, "The Secret World."  Most of what I'll talk about are small tips for playing the game that might be hard to find for newer players.  I don't plan on posting any story spoilers, other than some glitches in missions, but I will do my best to alert the reader of any spoilers ahead of time.

Enjoy!
